How to do the Teleportation?
Scientist might have found a way to actually invent a teleportation device!
It would be funny if someone asks what is teleportation? Like, who doesn’t know about it. It is one of the coolest sci-fi theories. Still, I’ll will give a brief definition.
Teleportation is the process of moving from one place to another in a single split of second without actually covering any significant distance.
Generally, this a science fiction topic but if we observe it through the glasses of Quantum Physics, it is possible.
Teleportation includes three main theories of Quantum Physics, which are:
Quantum Entanglement: The process of two particles getting entangled, the state of one particle instantly influences the state of another particle even if there are not close together. This normally happens when the quantum state of two particles is made similar.
Quantum Superposition: A system of particles can exist in two different positions at the same time until it is measured or observed.
Bell State Measurement: A specific measurement that allows Quantum State of a particle to be transferred to another particle.
Now, I am explaining this with a simple example, suppose you have two particles, A and B and they are Quantum Entangled. Now, one more particle, with different properties is introduced, particle C. Particle A and particle B are extremely far from each other, now we made a contact between particle A and particle C, such that particle A attained the properties of particle C. As, particle A and B were entangled, so now, particle B will have the same properties as particle C. So, practically or theoretically, the quantum state of particle C has been teleported to the position of particle B.
If I was not clear with the quantum state, then, Quantum State is a mathematical object which holds all the possible outcomes and measurements a system of particles can attain. In simpler words it is a DNA of system of particles, it contains it’s every characteristic it can have in future.
You must be thinking that this is not the teleportation you had in your mind. Well, that’s true it sounds more like a physics theory rather than a cool sci-fi stuff, but believe me, this is all we can do. If you are imagining teleportation to be something like that character does, Doctor Strange from MCU, where he uses a ring to open a portal and when he walks through it, bam! places changed; it is not like that.
Why can’t we open a portal in front of us and walk through it? Simple answer, you cannot just tear the space-time fabric of the Universe. (Will talk more on this ahead)
Few years back, a theory gained some popularity, the theory said what if in some future, a machine is invented in which a human will stand, and that machine will disintegrate the whole body into atoms and then transfer the atoms to different places and then integrate it to become the same human again.
Sounds interesting, right? Well, it actually might be possible but there is one simple drawback. Even though you disintegrate the human into small atoms and transfer them to another place, you will never be able to integrate it back as its original state.
Why?
Heinsberg’s Uncertainty Principle, in the simpler words, this principle states that you cannot know the speed and the position of a particle at the same time. So, that means, if the machine integrates those atoms into its original state, then, the head of the human will be in his stomach, his limbs will interchange, his torso will flip, in short, the human figure will be distorted, and eventually he will die, or worse.
So, teleporting a human is not possible, on Earth, yep! teleportation is not possible on Earth, but it might be possible in Space, through Wormholes.
As I told you in my previous blog (How to teach "The Theory of Relativity" to a kid?) I am going to talk about Wormholes and as mentioned above, tearing the space-time fabric.
This is going long, isn’t it?
A Wormhole is a tunnel-like structure which connects two different points in space and time. They are also known as Einstein-Rosen Bridge, as a part of The Theory of Relativity.
In short, if they exist, they can allow travelling faster than the speed of light, between two points or even time-travel. So, technically it is Teleportation. Only drawbacks, it requires negative matter to work, and we haven’t found something like that, yet. (For More on Wormholes)
That’s all for this post, this was one of the most complex works, I ever wrote. Like, or comment if there’s any query.
